Poland: Manufacturing PMI falls further in August
The S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) came in at 43.1 in August, down from 43.5 in July. Consequently, the index moved further below the 50-threshold, signaling a sharper deterioration in business conditions in the manufacturing sector from the prior month.
Faster contractions in output, employment, new orders and purchasing were behind the decline in the headline reading. On the price front, input prices continued to decline, partially thanks to a further easing of supply chain pressures, leading both input and output prices to fall at the second-sharpest pace on record. Lastly, output expectations for the year ahead worsened.
