In August, prices hit their highest level since 2022, the early phase of the Ukraine war. European stockpiles are set to enter winter at their lowest since 2013; with air conditioners on full blast due to a hot summer, competition from Asia for limited LNG cargoes—with Qatar canceling shipments through November—has heated up.
