Natural gas EU prices averaged USD 25.42 per MMBtu in September, up 20.3% from August. On 30 September, the commodity traded at USD 24.09 per MMBtu, up 1.3% from 31 August.
In September, prices rose the most since March to hit their highest since 2022 at the onset of the Ukraine war. Europe is set to enter winter with the lowest stockpiles since records began in 2011, due to air conditioner use amid a hot summer, plus Asian competition for LNG cargoes amid Qatar supply hitches.
