Molybdenum prices averaged USD 66,690 per metric ton in June, up 1.6% from May. On 30 June, the commodity traded at USD 66,690 per metric ton, unchanged from 29 May.
Average molybdenum prices rose to a 38-month high in June, driven by hot and wet weather, high energy prices, and declining mine grades, which hampered the production capacity of some molybdenum mining enterprises. Moreover, strong AI demand aided prices, as the metal is replacing tungsten as a component in AI chips.
