Molybdenum prices averaged USD 65,640 per metric ton in May, up 1.7% from April. On 29 May, the commodity traded at USD 66,690 per metric ton, up 1.7% from 30 April.

Molybdenum prices rose at their fastest pace in five months during May, driven by concerns that copper mining—the main source of molybdenum, a byproduct of the metal—could be disrupted due to an energy crisis in Peru, one of the world’s top producers of the commodity.
