Rice Prices

Rice prices averaged USD 527 per metric ton in December, up 3.7% from November. On 31 December, the commodity traded at USD 529 per metric ton, up 2.5% from 29 November.

Rice prices rose for the first time in half a year in December, likely due to surging demand, as exports from India, Thailand and Vietnam have risen recently. Additionally, the USDA lowered its global supply estimate but raised its global exports forecast to a record high, pointing to strengthening demand.
