Steel (USA) prices averaged USD 723 per metric ton in June, down 8.2% from May. On 28 June, the commodity traded at USD 674 per metric ton, down 11.4% from 31 May.
Prices continued to fall in June on the back of a sustained malaise in the construction and manufacturing sectors. In May, U.S. new home completions fell to the slowest pace since June 2020. In addition, ISM survey data hinted at a deepening downturn in the manufacturing sector.
