U.S. steel prices fell in August amid weaker manufacturing activity and prospective strikes in the automotive sector. Prices for U.S. steel averaged USD 800 per metric ton in August, down 8.1% from July’s price and 0.4% lower year on year. Meanwhile, on 31 August, hot-rolled coil steel traded at USD 729 per metric ton, 11.6% lower month on month.
