Palm oil prices averaged USD 1,615 per metric ton in August, up 1.2% from July. On 31 August, the commodity traded at USD 1,620 per metric ton, up 0.6% from 31 July.
In August, palm oil prices remained at their highest average since May 2022, kept elevated by higher oil prices amid the continued conflict in the Middle East, which boosted supported demand for palm-oil-derived biofuel in turn. Shipping disruptions of for rival seed oils from the Black Sea region also supported prices.
