Palm oil prices averaged USD 1,596 per metric ton in July, up 1.4% from June. On 31 July, the commodity traded at USD 1,610 per metric ton, up 3.2% from 30 June.
In July, palm oil prices reached fresh multi-year highs, supported by renewed conflict in the Middle East, which boosted energy costs and demand for palm-oil-derived biofuel in turn. Rising prices for rival vegetable oils also contributed to July’s uptick.
