Coffee prices averaged USD 314 cents per pound in April, down 2.0% from March. On 30 April, the commodity traded at USD 307 cents per pound, down 3.4% from 31 March.
In April, arabica coffee prices edged down from the prior month, moving further below their prior 12-month average. Expectations of a 12% larger crop in Brazil drove the fall, outweighing upside pressures stemming from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which has driven up shipping, insurance and fuel prices.
