In September, average arabica coffee prices saw their sharpest monthly decline since February, driven by a weaker Brazilian real, which encouraged export sales from Brazilian producers. Projections of record global supply also weighed on prices, outweighing market concerns over the impact of El Niño on Brazil’s output.
