Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level since September 2021 in June
Harmonized inflation fell to 2.8% in June below May’s 4.1%. June’s figure represented the lowest inflation rate since September 2021. The result was largely driven by a sharper decline in transportation prices. Moreover, prices for restaurants and hotels rose at a slower pace. That said, food inflation accelerated.
The trend pointed down, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 7.5% in June (May: 8.2%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 1.8% in June, from the previous month’s 2.8%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.91% in June over the previous month, picking up from May’s 0.54% increase.
