Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level since October 2024 in April
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation dropped to 4.0% in April, from March’s 4.3%. April's figure marked the lowest inflation rate since October 2024. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for food softened and transport prices fell at a steeper rate. That said, housing and utilities prices rose at a quicker pace. Annual average harmonized inflation ticked down to 3.9% in April (March: 4.0%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation was steady, coming in at March's 3.2% in April. Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.72% in April over the previous month, picking up from March's 0.45% rise. April's uptick marked the highest reading since October 2024.
