Exchange Rate in Cote d'Ivoire
Cote d'Ivoire - Exchange RateThe economy picked up in the second quarter with GDP growth rising to 7.4% in annual terms, after dipping to 7.1% in the first quarter. Q2’s upturn likely reflected marked accelerations in industrial and retail activity, which both shot up more than 10% over the same period of the previous year. While a detailed breakdown has yet to be released, available data revealed that the agricultural sector seems to have performed solidly at the beginning of the quarter, thanks to booming cocoa and cotton harvests. This, combined with higher oil and natural gas production in April, likely also supported the outturn. On the downside, gold mining shrank in the same month. Turning to the third quarter, business confidence strengthened notably in July, signalling upbeat investment prospects at the beginning of the quarter. That said, relatively subdued cocoa and cotton prices likely restrained the expansion.
