United Kingdom: Industrial production increases tepidly in July, contrasting June’s decrease
Industrial production increased 0.1% in July compared to the previous month, rebounding from June’s 0.1% decrease. July’s increase was supported by an expansion in the manufacturing sector, which contracted in June and represents approximately 70% of total industrial output.
In annual terms, industrial production fell 0.9% in July, following June’s 0.6% decrease.
Looking ahead, industrial production is likely to remain sluggish, held back by uncertainty over the UK’s possible departure from the EU.
