Thailand: Manufacturing output falls at an accelerated pace in August
Manufacturing production fell 4.4% year-on-year in August, down from the revised 3.3% contraction in July (previously reported: -3.2% year-on-year). August’s print reflected drops in the manufacture of food products; motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers; coke and refined petroleum products; rubber and plastic products; and computer and electronic products.
In month-on-month terms, production fell 0.3% in August and contrasted the 1.0% expansion in July. Annual average variation in manufacturing output, meanwhile, dropped from a 0.3% fall in July to 0.9% contraction in August, the lowest reading since June 2015.
