Switzerland: Retail sales decline in August
Calendar-adjusted real retail sales fell 1.4% on an annual basis in August, almost reversing July’s revised 1.5% increase (previously: +1.4% year-on-year). August’s fall was driven by reductions across food, clothing and automotive fuel sales.
On a month-on-month seasonally-adjusted basis, real retail sales dropped 1.6% in August, following the 0.3% fall registered in July. Meanwhile, the annual average variation in retail sales was -0.3% in August, following the 0.1% decline seen in July.
