Switzerland: Retail sales continue to fall in March
According to the Swiss Federal Statistics Office, calendar-adjusted real retail sales fell 0.7% dip in annual terms in March, down from the revised flat print recorded in February (previously reported: -0.2% year-on-year). March’s dip was broad-based, with a notable drop in sales of fuel as well as clothing and footwear.
On a month-on-month calendar- and seasonally-adjusted basis, real retail sales fell 0.2% in March, contrasting the revised 0.5% increase logged in February (previously reported: +0.3% month-on-month). Meanwhile, the annual average variation in retail sales remained flat in March.
