Spain: Retail sales growth slows to seven-month low in January
Retail sales rose increased 0.9% year-on-year in January, easing from the revised 2.0% rise (previously reported: +1.9% year-on-year) logged in the final month of 2019 and marking the softest increase in seven months. January’s moderation mainly reflected falling sales of personal and household equipment goods, after they grew in December.
On a distribution-based system, purchases at department, small and large chain stores lost pace compared to December, while they declined at single retail stores.
Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth ticked down to 2.3% in January from 2.4% in the previous month.
