Spain: Industrial production growth eases to six-month low in September
Industrial production increased 0.8% year-on-year in seasonally- and calendar-adjusted terms in September, down from August’s revised 1.4% rise (previously reported: +1.7% year-on-year) and marking the softest increase in six months. The annual average variation in industrial output ticked up to minus 0.0% in September from minus 0.1% in August.
September’s moderation largely reflected a slowdown in consumer goods output and a sharper fall in intermediate goods production compared to August. Meanwhile, capital goods and energy production picked up in September.
On a month-on-month basis, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, factory output fell 0.8% in September, contrasting the 0.6% rise recorded in August (previously reported: +0.9% month-on-month).
