Spain: Housing permits growth accelerates in January
According to data published by the Ministry of Public Works, the Spanish Board of Architects approved 9,306 new construction permits in January. The figure was well above both the 6,694 permits granted in January 2018 and the 7,599 permits granted in December. On an annual basis, permits rose 39.0% in January, jumping from December’s 24.7% upshot.
The moving three-month sum of permits totaled 26,157 in January, which marked a 34.9% increase from the same period in 2018 and followed a 26.6% expansion recorded in December. That said, the current number of permits represents a mere fraction of the 268,266 permits that were granted during the July–September 2006 peak.
