Slovenia: Industrial sector loses pace in May
Industrial production rose 3.1% on an annual basis in May, decelerating from April’s revised 5.3% expansion (previously reported: +5.7% year-on-year). A breakdown by sub-components showed that a notable slowdown in the manufacturing sector caused the downturn. The fall in growth was cushioned by a softer contraction in mining and quarrying, and a rebound in the supply of electricity, gas and water supply.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial output fell 0.9% in May, contrasting a 1.8% climb in April. Meanwhile, average annual growth in industrial production dropped to 3.5% from 3.8% in May.
