Slovakia: Harmonized inflation falls to 14-month low in December
Consumer prices dropped 0.1% month-on-month in December, matching November’s reading. According to data released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (SOSR), the transport sub-component registered the sharpest losses, followed by clothing, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Meanwhile, prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, increased mildly in December. In addition, the harmonized index for consumer prices declined 0.1% month-on-month, matching November’s turnout.
December’s harmonized inflation ticked down to 1.9%, logging the lowest reading in over a year (November: +2.0% year-on-year). Meanwhile, annual average harmonized inflation remained unchanged from November’s result at a five-year high of 2.5%.
