Slovakia: Industrial production barely grows in September
Industrial production expanded a mediocre 0.4% year-on-year in September, well down from August’s 2.1% increase. Growth came on the back of a moderate expansion in manufacturing, which more than offset sharp contractions in mining and quarrying, and in electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply. Healthy increases in the manufacture of transport equipment, and of machinery and equipment, drove the manufacturing sector’s positive performance.
After adjusting for seasonal effects, industrial production decreased 0.2% over the previous month in September, contrasting August’s 0.9% month-on-month increase.
Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output edged down from August’s 2.3% to 2.1% in September.
