Serbia: Inflation edges down in February

Consumer prices jumped 0.6% month-on-month in February, matching January’s rise. Higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages; alcoholic beverages and tobacco; and housing and utilities drove the rise in prices over the prior month. Conversely, prices for transport fell in February.

Inflation ticked down to 1.9% in February from 2.0% in January, remaining within the lower half of the Central Bank’s target band of 3.0% plus or minus 1.5 percentage points. Meanwhile, annual average inflation fell to 1.8% from 1.9% in January.
