Kazakhstan: Industrial sector accelerates again in February
The industrial sector accelerated in February for the second consecutive month, following a notable slowdown in December. Industrial production grew 3.5% over the same month of the previous year, up from 1.9% in January.
Looking at a breakdown of the sub-sectors, February’s print was led by a rebound in the manufacturing sector. A slight pick-up in the water supply, sewerage system and waste management sector also contributed to the upturn. On the other hand, the mining sector lost pace, although grew again at a solid stride. Meanwhile, electricity, gas and steam supply remained stable, following a marginal rise in the previous month.
Annual average growth in industrial production moderated to 3.6% in February from 3.9% in January.
