Greece: Manufacturing PMI rises in January
The S&P Global Greece Manufacturing Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) improved to 54.7 in January from 51.3 in December. As a result, the index moved further above the 50.0 no-change threshold, and signaled a faster improvement in manufacturing sector operating conditions compared to the previous month.
The manufacturing sector saw its strongest improvement since April 2022, with output and new orders expanding at sharper rates from the previous month. Moreover, employment growth in the sector reached a six-month high. On the flip side, shipping disruptions in the Red Sea led to the worst supplier delays since October 2022, driving up input price inflation and causing firms to raise output charges in response. Lastly, business confidence strengthened on planned investments and hopes of stronger demand ahead.
