France: Inflation speeds up in June
Consumer prices rose 0.2% month-on-month in June, edging up from May’s 0.1% outturn. According to a preliminary estimate released by the French Statistical Institute (INSEE), higher prices for transport and communication, coupled with a rebound in prices for services, drove the uptick.
Inflation came in at 1.2% from 0.9% in May, while harmonized inflation landed at 1.4% (May: 1.1%). Annual average inflation, meanwhile, ticked down to 1.6% from 1.7%.
