Finland: Current account balance returns to deficit in December
The current account balance fell to a EUR 0.46 billion deficit in December, contrasting the revised EUR 0.10 billion surplus in November, which was previously reported as a EUR 0.17 billion surplus. The current account shortfall in December was also worse than in the same month a year earlier, when it amounted to a EUR 0.29 billion deficit.
In the 12 months leading up to December, the current account balance was a EUR 3.8 billion deficit, representing a deterioration compared to the EUR 3.6 billion shortfall in November.
The trade balance fell to a EUR 0.23 billion deficit in December, contrasting the revised EUR 0.18 billion surplus in November (previously reported: surplus of EUR 0.15 billion). Exports rose 3.7% in December, down from 5.1% in November, while imports rose 7.4%, up from 4.1%.
