Croatia: Industrial production in the doldrums at year outset
Industrial production dived 5.5% in working-day adjusted terms over the same month last year in January, a sharper drop than December’s 2.2% contraction. Consequently, annual average variation in industrial output worsened from 0.5% in December to minus 0.3% in the first month of 2020.
January’s faster decline was due to sharper contractions in mining and quarrying and manufacturing sectors, as well as to a downturn in the utilities sector.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rebounded 0.6% in seasonally- and working-day adjusted terms, from a 1.5% slump in December.
