Colombia: Industrial sector accelerates sharply in January
According to data released by Colombia’s National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) on 14 March, the industrial sector accelerated markedly at the year’s outset. Industrial production grew 3.0% over the same month of the previous year in January, following a 0.4% year-on-year expansion in December.
A breakdown of the industrial activities showed that January’s print was underpinned by strong expansions in the production of beverages; the manufacture of paper, cardboard, and their products; and the manufacture of plastic products.
Annual average growth in industrial production edged up to 4.0% in January, from 3.8% in December.
