Brazil: Consumers grow more pessimistic in February
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) fell to 87.8 points in February from 90.4 points in January. Consequently, the index remained below the 100-point threshold separating consumer pessimism from optimism.
The deterioration in consumer sentiment in February was chiefly the result of households’ more downbeat assessment of future conditions. Conversely, consumers were less pessimistic about the current economic situation.
