Brazil: Consumer sentiment falls in January
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation fell to 74.1 in January, following December’s 75.5 reading. As a result, the index remained below the 100-point threshold, indicating continued pessimism among consumers.
January’s decrease came amid consumers’ more pessimistic assessment of the future economic situation. Contrastingly, their views on the current conditions improved slightly, although remained deeply pessimistic.
