Singapore: Inflation comes in at highest level since February 2013 in December

Consumer prices rose 0.46% in December over the previous month, easing from November’s 0.98% rise. December’s softer reading was driven by lower growth in food and transport prices.

Inflation came in at 4.0% in December, which was up from November’s 3.9%. December’s result marked the highest inflation rate since February 2013. As a result, annual average inflation came in at 2.3% for 2021 as a whole, contrasting markedly the 0.2% fall recorded in 2020. Finally, core inflation was stable, coming in at 4.2% in December and matching November’s print.
