Brazil: Consumer confidence rises to 10-month high in December
The seasonally-adjusted consumer confidence index published by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) climbed to 96.1 points in December from 88.9 points in November, marking the best reading seen since February. Nonetheless, the index remains below the 100-point threshold that separates consumer pessimism from optimism.
December’s improvement was broad-based and driven by consumers’ less pessimistic assessment of the current situation and renewed optimism in their expectations for future conditions.
