Belgium: Economic sentiment plummets in December
The consumer confidence indicator produced by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) plummeted 4.0 points to minus 5.0 points in December. The downtick was driven by an expected worsening of the economic situation in Belgium, which fed into consumers’ plans to save less over the coming year.
Moreover, the NBB’s business confidence indicator dipped from 0.4 points to minus 0.9 points on the back of abroad-based decline in sentiment. All industries but trade notched lower readings.
