Argentina: Inflation ramps up in February
According to the National Statistical Institute (INDEC), national consumer prices jumped 3.8% over the previous month in February, coming in above January’s 2.9% month-on-month increase.
February’s reading marks the second consecutive month of acceleration in month-on-month price increases. The strongest price increases were recorded for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels—due to planned tariff increases—and food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Meanwhile, inflation rose from January’s 49.3% to a multi-year high of 51.3% in February, while the annual average inflation increased from 35.8% in January to 38.0% in the second month of the year.
