Merchandise trade surplus narrows in April
Latest reading: In April, the trade balance was EUR +14.5 billion, following a EUR +14.7 billion reading in the previous month. This marked the smallest surplus since October 2024. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to EUR +202.9 billion. Merchandise exports rose 0.9% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in April, following 0.3% growth in the prior month. Merchandise imports rose 1.2% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in April, following a 4.5% increase in the previous month.
