Inflation drops to lowest level since July 2021 in June
Inflation dropped to 3.8% in June from May’s 4.5%. June's reading represented the lowest inflation rate since July 2021. The slowdown was primarily driven by dropping prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for transportation and for restaurants and hotels softened. Annual average inflation fell to 7.3% in June (May: 8.1%). Meanwhile, core inflation rose to 5.1% in June from May’s 5.0%. Finally, consumer prices rose 0.07% from the previous month in June, following the 0.40% increase recorded in May. June's result marked the weakest reading since July 2023.
