Ukraine: Inflation edges up in April
Consumer prices rose 1.0% month-on-month in April, up slightly from a 0.9% increase in March. The acceleration was largely driven by higher prices for clothing and footwear, as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages, according to the Statistical Institute.
Inflation edged up from a two-and-a-half-year low of 8.6% in March, to 8.8% in April. As a result, inflation moved further above the Central Bank’s 6.5% plus or minus 2.0 percentage points target range. Lastly, annual average inflation continued to fall in April, coming in at an over four-year low of 9.4% (March: 9.8%).
