Thailand: Merchandise exports rise at a softer pace in April
Merchandise exports climbed 9.9% year-on-year in April (March: +19.5% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports jumped 21.5% in annual terms in April (March: +18.0% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 1.9 billion deficit in April (March 2022: USD 1.5 billion surplus; April 2021: USD 0.5 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 0.8 billion deficit in April, compared to the USD 1.5 billion surplus in March.
