Thailand: Manufacturing output rebounds in April
Manufacturing production rose 2.0% year-on-year in April, swinging from a revised 2.7% contraction in March (previously reported: -2.5% year-on-year). The outturn was driven by strong growth in the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers while output of coke and refined petroleum products also expanded robustly. This offset noticeable drops in output of food products, and computer and electronic products.
In month-on-month terms, growth in manufacturing output shifted into a noticeably higher gear, growing 2.5% in April (March: +0.2% month-on-month). Lastly, annual average manufacturing output eased to 1.9% in April from 2.1% in March.
