Switzerland: Retail sales expand at fastest pace since April in November
Retail sales expanded 5.8% year-on-year in calendar-adjusted terms in November, which was above October’s 2.2% increase. The print marked the best result since April. The reading reflected a broad-based upturn, with dynamics in the food, beverages, and tobacco, household equipment and culture and recreation goods sub-sectors all improving in November.
On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 1.3% in seasonally-adjusted terms in November, which was above October’s 0.6% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 5.4% in November (October: +5.1%), signaling an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
