Slovakia: Inflation increases in April
Consumer prices rose 1.50% in April over the previous month, which was below March’s 1.70% rise. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a faster pace in April while prices for housing and utilities were mostly in line with the previous month’s reading. Meanwhile, transportation price growth moderated. Moreover, prices for health grew at a more subdued pace.
Inflation increased to 11.8% in April, above March’s 10.4%. April’s figure was the highest inflation rate since our records began in June 2000. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 6.1% in April (March: 5.2%). Lastly, harmonized inflation rose to 10.9% in April, from the previous month’s 9.6%.
