Slovakia: Inflation picks up in June
July 13, 2012
In June, consumer prices added 0.2% over the previous month, which followed the 0.1% increase recorded in May. The monthly reading mainly reflected rising prices for education as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Annual headline inflation rose from 3.4% in May to 3.6% in June, which represents the first increase in inflation since November last year. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) remained stable at May's 4.1%. The Central Bank expects annual average HICP inflation to reach 3.5% in 2012 before moderating to 1.7% in 2013.
