Slovakia: Inflation falls to lowest level in four years in January
Consumer prices rose 0.30% month-on-month in January, contrasting December’s 0.10% decline and logging the highest reading since May 2020. January’s upturn was largely due to a rebound in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Moreover, prices for transport rose at a quicker pace than in the previous month.
Inflation came in at 0.7% in January, below December’s 1.6% and the lowest inflation rate since January 2017. Meanwhile, annual average inflation dropped to 1.8% in January (December: 2.0%). Lastly, harmonized inflation dropped to 0.7% for in January, down from December’s 1.6%.
