Russia: Consumer confidence remains downbeat in Q1
The consumer confidence index, published by the Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat) on 6 April, rose to minus 21 points in the first quarter of this year, from minus 26 points in the final quarter of 2020. Although the print marked the best reading in one year, it remained stuck well below the 0-point threshold, where it has been since Q3 2008, signaling that pessimists continued to clearly outnumber optimists in the Russian economy.
