Romania: Industrial output shrinks for tenth consecutive month at 2020 outset
Industrial production fell 3.1% year-on-year in seasonally- and working day-adjusted terms in January, following December’s 6.9% plunge and marking the tenth consecutive month of contraction. January’s downturn reflected sizeable declines in output in all the three major sectors, which has occurred for the past seven months.
The annual average variation in industrial output, meanwhile, fell to minus 3.9% in January from minus 3.6% in December, marking the worst result since January 2010. Lastly, in seasonally- and working day-adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production jumped 2.0%, rebounding from December’s 0.2% slip.
