Romania: Industrial output drops at softer pace in September
Industrial production dropped 2.8% on a working-day and seasonally-adjusted year-on-year basis in September (August: -3.7% yoy). September’s reading marked the best result in seven months.
Looking at the details of the release, September’s improvement was broad-based, with output in the manufacturing, mining and quarrying, and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sub-sectors all dropping at a less pronounced pace than in August.
On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, factory output rose 1.5% in September, easing markedly from August’s 5.3% expansion. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up slightly, with annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 11.4% in September, up from August’s minus 11.7% reading.
