May 30, 2017

In April, industrial production in Portugal fell 1.2%, contrasting March’s revised 3.5% rise (previously reported: +1.9% year-on-year). April’s fall was caused by contractions in the mining and electricity, gas and water sectors, while the manufacturing sector ticked up slightly.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, in April industrial production rose 0.2%, down from March’s 0.6%. Annual average growth in industrial production was 1.2% in April, down from March’s 1.6%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to rise 1.8% this year, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, panel participants expect industrial output to expand 1.7%.
