Poland: Retail sales post quickest growth in seventeen years in April
Retail sales rose 25.7% year-on-year in April (March: +17.1% yoy). April’s figure marked the best result since April 2004; however, it chiefly came on the back of a low base effect. Looking at the details of the release, the improvement was partly due to faster growth in motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts sales. In contrast, textiles, clothing and footwear sales weakened.
Meanwhile, the trend improved notably, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at a one-year high of plus 1.8%, contrasting March’s minus 2.3%.
