Poland: Inflation slips in December
A comprehensive estimate released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) confirmed that consumer prices were stable from a month earlier in December (November: +0.0% month-on-month). December’s flat reading saw higher food and beverage prices offset by lower fuel costs. Core consumer prices were also stable from a month earlier (November: -0.1% month-on-month).
Inflation was confirmed at 1.1%, down from 1.3% in November and landing below the midpoint of the Central Bank’s target range of 2.5% plus or minus 1.0 percentage point. For its part, core inflation dipped to 0.6% (November: 0.7%).
All told, annual average inflation landed at 1.6% in 2018.
