October 1, 2020

Consumer prices increased 0.20% over the previous month in September, contrasting the 0.10% drop logged in August, according to a preliminary estimate. September’s print largely reflected higher prices for fuels for personal transport equipment.

Inflation came in at 3.2% in September, slightly above August’s 2.9%. Meanwhile, the trend was unchanged with annual average inflation coming in at August's 3.4% in September.

FocusEconomics panelists project inflation to average 3.2% in 2020, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast, and 2.4% in 2021, which is also unchanged from last month’s forecast.
