Poland Business Confidence April 2017

Poland: Business confidence hits multi-year high in April

April 26, 2017

The manufacturing sector business climate index rose from 6.4 points in March to 9.6 points in April, according to the Central Statistical Office’s Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS). The result was the best seen since April 2010, taking the index further above the zero-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism.

The more upbeat sentiment among businesses in April was broad-based. The assessment of all sub-components improved for the current situation. Looking ahead, forecasts for all but the new orders sub-component climbed up from March.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect fixed investment to grow 2.9% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. For 2018, the panel sees fixed investment expanding 5.0%.
